What are most adjustable cutting factors in CNC turning machines???

The three basic primary factors in any turning operation are spindle speed rpm), feed and depth of cut. These three are called adjustable cutting factors.
Other factors are material types and types of tools. These two types are very important during the cutting operation. But the above three factors can be changed/adjusted by the operator at any time.

Right Cutting Parameters Produces A Precise Output,Which Helps In Reducing Cycle Times, good surface finishing, And Machine Costs. The Speed And Motion Of
The Cutting Tool Are Specified Through SeveralP That Can Be Modified For Different Operations Based Upon The Workpiece Material And
Tool Size.

What is the Feed, Cutting Speed, Spindle Speed and Depth of Cut?

1). Spindle Speed

In turning machine, the angular velocity of the spindle is called the "spindle speed". The unit of spindle speed is revolution per minute (rpm).

2). Cutting speed.

Cutting speed is defined as the speed at which the cutting tool moves with respect to the workpiece (The speed is expressed in metre per minute.)

To obtain uniform cutting speed, the turning spindle must be revolved faster for workplaces of small diameter and slower for workplaces of large diameter. The proper cutting speed for a given job depends upon the hardness of the material being machined, the material of the tool bit, and how much feed and depth of cut is required. Cutting speeds for metal are usually expressed in metre per minute.

3). Feed

Feed rate is defined as the distance the tool travels during one revolution of the part. Cutting feed and cutting speed determines the surface finish.
We can define the unit of feed into two types: mm/revolution and mm/minute.

Note:-Mostly we use mm/revolution as a feed unit in turning machine, whereas mm/minute is used as a feed unit in milling machine.

4). Depth of Cut.

Depth of cut is the thickness of metal that is removed during machining. The perpendicular distance measured between the machined surface and the uncut surface of the workpiece is taken.
It is expressed in mm or in inches.

Note:-
In turning machine, the material is removed two times (diametrically) at each depth of cut and that cut is called diametrical cut.

Depth of cut (DOC) = :D-d/2

D = diameter of the work piece before machining
d = diameter of the machined surface (diameter of the work piece after machining).

Calculating formula of all above cutting factors.
